I will say that Liana lived a very different life from most people and spent a lot of time adjacent to rich and famous people. She likes comedy clubs, she is smart, and came off as more than a little bitter over how her own life has gone in comparison to people she grew up around. Adopting a Siamese wasn't a terrible idea. The breed's reputation is undeserved. Every cat is an individual. Maybe you weren't ready for the challenges of an oriental breed of cat or maybe the cat just had problems, but that generalization really isn't fair.

Apologies for the long delay. The story continues...

Well before we went on vacation Ano wanted a cat. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that Ano demanded a cat. It was one of the only demands she made in our entire time together and so what could I do? I agreed to operation 'get a cat' and within a week we acquired a Siamese from a family that couldn't keep her. Now if you know cats you'll know this was a terrible idea for reasons I wont go over, but long story short the cat ran away multiple times- wouldn't even attempt to bond with us, and we eventually had to take her to a kennel. It was super shitty. Then Ano found a rescue that a vet had saved from near death- and Mummy entered our lives. I'll spare you the cat stories and just say he was adorable as a kitten and friendly and loving as a cat and Ano and I both loved him.

The other thing that happened is my friend moved into our spare bedroom. This was obviously not ideal, I'd have much preferred a different situation but after breaking ties with Liana Ano was not getting steady work and we had bills to pay. Huge southern California rent sized bills. And working at a game studio- does not pay especially well. So my friend moved in because he still needed the help and frankly so did I. Unfortunately this friend was a lifelong friend and I was deeply in love with Ano so I basically manufactured a rivalry that I had to watch play out over the next few months before that particular living arrangement well and truly fell apart. In the meantime, said friend watched the cat while Ano and I went on vacation.

The cruise ship picked us up in Long Beach and was borded not just by most of my immediate family- but also a few aunts and uncles. So Ano really got the full inlaw experience so to speak, which was just as well. Because a few days into the cruise I asked her to take a walk with me. Well suffice to I've never been unable to make nice with an animal at any point in my life (with roughly a dozen pets) and Ano was similarly pet-friendly so it was hard on both of us that it didn't work out. Even ten years later that Siamese remains the only 'failed' pet experience I've had.
