While it is considered poor forum etiquette not to reply to a PM/DM from any member, failing to reply to one from a Staff member within a reasonable amount* of time (date PM issued vs Last seen date), can be considered worse.
Now, you won't be banned for failing to reply because of not being online. But, if not received, Moderator/Admin action will be taken (usually, what was stated in the PM).
*Logging in every day: 7 days
*Once a week, or so, then 21 days
*Once a month, or less: Depending upon what the PM said, 21 days.
Of course, the quicker the response, the quicker the issue can be resolved.
